Three Trees Studios is an independent publisher of a variety of comic book stories, both online and in print. Our tales range from cartoony to biographical to sci-fi to slice-of-life. We try to make entertaining and positive comics that anyone can read.
On this site you can read several of our webcomics which are updated regularly. You can also purchase our print comics and other stuff in the Store. There are a lots of behind-the-scenes sketches available here, too. On the Extras page, you can check out some bonus stories and download wallpapers and other good stuff. SETH WOLFSHORNDL (creator, artist, writer)
By day, Seth teaches both middle and high school art. By night, he draws comics. He is married to Laura Wolfshorndl, without whom he would never get anything done. Originally from Kalispell, Montana, he has been drawing comics since 7th grade. To support his comics habit he also spends some of his extra time doing freelance illustrating. If you are interested in hiring him or just want to see some of his non-comics work, you can check his website HERE. Three of his favorite artists are David Mack, Mike Mignola, and Travis Charest.
ELTON GAHR (creator, writer)
Elton Gahr was born and raised in Kalispell, Montana. With both parents being artists some may say that it was inevitable for him to make the attempt at some type of creative job. But he didn't recognize that, planning to become a computer programmer for most of high school. It was only with some kind words from his computer teacher that he understood he had to do something creative or he would never be happy. Although he has yet to be published he has spent much of the last six years writing science fiction and fantasy novels. To relax in his spare time he makes up comic book characters and creates the world they occupy in his mind... as well as delivering pizza for Pizza Hut.
DUSTIN ROBERTS (creator, artist, writer)
I'm a husband to a wonderful, supportive wife...and father to a crazy, lovable boy. Art and Comics have been on hold in my life for about 4 years now. It has been fantastic rediscovering that aspect of my life. Never having been the most productive person this venture has been a kick in the pants for me...so hopefully I can extract Seth and Elton's collective foot and actually contribute.
A Brief History of Three Trees Studios
It all started in study hall. Seth and Elton were in junior high together in Kalispell, Montana. With nothing better to do with their free time (such as studying or meeting girls), they ended up creating a bunch of crazy characters together and putting them in mini-comics that they distributed to friends and family. You can see some of these... quality works of art on this site, if you look hard enough.
Dustin joined them in high school, and the trio continued to put out their quirky superhero comics together. Then college happened. And marriages. Comics were put on the backburner for everyone for a few years.
Finally, in 2004 Seth and Elton began putting together a new anthology, Random Ink, that featured the few stories they had been able to work on the last few years, as well as some new tales. They published this as a mini-comic in March 2005 and launched this website.
Since then, they have launched webcomics, such as Rook City and continued to work on more stories. Dustin is a regular contributor now, and they have also been joined by Nathan Judah. Future books will feature work from all four of these guys who just can't seem to get comics out of their system.
The moral: sometimes doodling in class can be a good thing!
